Online Conference: Mental Training in Table Tennis

A free online conference will be held on October 27, 2025, focusing on mental training in table tennis and the tools used in sport psychology to enhance performance.

Table tennis is a highly demanding sport from a mental perspective: managing stress, maintaining concentration, handling rapid point sequences, and bouncing back after mistakes. The psychological dimension plays a key role both in training and in competition.

This conference will explore the principles of mental coaching and mental training, in connection with real competitive demands and high-level performance.

Program:

  • Understanding the challenges of mental training in table tennis
  • Learning to play point by point and stay focused on the present moment
  • Developing self-confidence and mental stability
  • Improving concentration and attentional quality during matches
  • Managing competitive stress and key moments
  • Working on sensory awareness and internal performance cues
  • Better regulating emotions and reactions after mistakes
  • Understanding the role of the sport psychologist and mental coach

Speaker:
The conference will be led by Manuel Dupuis, sport psychologist and specialist in mental training, and a former table tennis player who competed at a high level, including in the Superdivision.

For over twenty years, he has supported players and organizations in table tennis at both national and international levels. He has worked with the French-speaking Table Tennis Federation (AFTT), the Flemish federation (VTTL), as well as Pro A clubs in France, including Bayard Argentan, and in Belgium with Logis Auderghem Table Tennis Club.

He also collaborates with CAPS (high-performance support center recognized by ADEPS) and has worked with numerous international players.

His approach is grounded in field experience and based on tools from sport psychology and mental coaching.

Préparation mentale expertises

Mental Preparation Training

Every year, many organizations request expertise in mental preparation or sports performance psychology. My schedule doesn’t allow me to respond to these requests, but I continue to collaborate with pleasure on the University Diploma in Mental Preparation at the University of Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne, France.

Like last year, I agreed to evaluate several dissertations and also to act as an evaluator during the oral exams. While this requires a certain commitment, it allows me to interact with other competent experts.

Sports Psychology

Since 2016, I have continued to work for CASPY, the psychological center of the CAPS (Sports Performance Support Center), where I work with promising athletes and high-level athletes recognized by the ADEPS (French Sports Association).

I have also continued my activities since 2003 for Psychosport, where I receive requests from athletes and clubs (in various sports).

I also collaborate with the Belgian Olympic Committee.
